How did the Manon come about?

Famous, highly desirable, wanted and loved, the Manon, as we know it today, is unique. How did it come about? In 1980, the Manon was filled with a nougatine-based preparation, topped with a walnut and coated with a layer of sugar. It was Jean Kesdekoglu-Kestekidis, one of Leonidas' family members, who changed the recipe.

With this new recipe, Jean created a worldwide sensation. He had the brilliant idea of replacing sugar with white chocolate. At the time, no one else in the world was making pralines from white chocolate. The walnut is then replaced by a hazelnut, which can be roasted and can therefore be kept longer. Finally, he replaces the nougatine with the famous buttercream. The new recipe gave birth to Manon, the same product we still love to this day.
