Jules Destrooper


Cinnamon from Indonesia is a spice with healing qualities. It is obtained from the shoots of the cinnamon tree. The bark from the shoots is removed so that only the inner husk remains. This husk then rolls up, dries and so becomes the familiar cinnamon stick. These sticks only release their full flavour when they are cooked - so they are ideal in the Jules Destrooper speculoos spread!

Summer butter is essentially made from the milk of cows that graze in the summer, instead of eating silage in wintertime. This butter contains more soft fats, making it creamier and softer. The milk of the Irish butter that Jules Destrooper uses is sourced from Southwestern Ireland. Over there the cows can graze outdoors the whole summer long.

Candy (sugar) contains small clusters of crystallised sugar. This all-natural Belgian product has a soft texture and a characteristic flavour, and contains no artificial colourings or flavourings. The perfect topping for pancakes, crumbles... and a perfect ingredient for the speculoos Belgian biscuit spread!
